Standard data element configuration

Save the re-typing of the same data by configuring standard data elements

Some applications of this feature:

User-specific information

Note that this application of Standard Data Elements would only be used in the Desktop. For Cloud use, you would read user data from a data source. While this kind of data is also widely handled even on the Desktop by data source connections, it is possible to configure standard data elements for each user. These would be data elements that appear on standard templates such as letterheads e.g. email address and direct telephone number. In order to save a user typing their own details into the interview, the Standard Data Elements feature allows them to enter these details into the configuration of a folder.

The values are inserted into the interview and can be changed before assembly if necessary.

Note that these types of Standard Data Elements would usually be done in the user’s Home Configuration (denoted by the green configuration screen). Each user has their own configuration.

Configure standard data elements or connect to a database for staff details in your XpressDox template

Setting values at a folder level

This example shows how the same Standard Data Element can be set in different folders, with different values. And how that data element can be used to build the resultant file path of the assembled document.

If the template is run out of the Agreements folder, then the assembled document will be saved to:

\Documents\12345\Agreements\ (where 12345 is the MatterNo)

and if the template is run out of the Commercial folder, the assembled document will be saved to:

\Documents\12345\Commercial\

See merging configurations for the exact mechanism of how this works.
